Pre-Algebra Math Tutor

Compensation and Hours:

6 hours per week

Compensation: $27/hr

  • Teaching: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday | 10:15 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.

  • Preparation: 2 flexible hours per week (may be completed remotely)

Overview:

The Pre-Algebra Math Tutor provides engaging, Christ-centered instruction for junior high students while helping build a strong mathematical foundation and confidence in problem-solving. In Stafford Farm School's hybrid model, students complete three instructor-led lessons each week on campus and one lesson independently at home with the support of their parents, who serve as co-educators. The Math Tutor partners with families by providing clear instruction, assignments, and communication to ensure continuity between classroom and home learning. 

Responsibilities:

Hybrid Learning & Parent Partnership
  • Teach three Pre-Algebra lessons each week during on-campus instructional days.

  • Assign one independent lesson each Thursday to be completed at home with the support of parents, who serve as co-educators in Stafford Farm School's hybrid educational model.

  • Review and verify completion of the at-home lesson when students return on Tuesday, providing feedback and support as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date assignments, grades, announcements, and instructional materials in Google Classroom.

  • Utilize Google Classroom as the primary platform for communicating assignments, grades, and class information with students and parents.

  • Partner with parents by providing clear expectations and timely communication to support student success both at school and at home.

Instruction
  • Maintain an engaging, encouraging, and organized classroom environment.

  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, perseverance, and confidence in mathematics.

 

Lesson Preparation

  • Review upcoming curriculum and prepare lessons prior to instruction.

  • Prepare, print, and organize all classroom and take-home materials.

Student Assessments
  • Review, grade, and provide timely, constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments.

  • Monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support may be beneficial.

  • Maintain accurate student records and input grades and assessment data into Google Classroom and other school systems as required.

Reporting & Parent Conferences
  • Complete semester report cards twice annually, providing thoughtful and accurate feedback on each student's academic progress.

  • Participate in winter parent-teacher conferences, as requested, to discuss student progress, celebrate successes, and collaborate with families on strategies to support continued growth.

  • Maintain open, professional, and timely communication with parents throughout the school year to foster a strong partnership between home and school.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of pre-algebra and middle school mathematics.

  • Experience teaching or tutoring junior high students preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Alignment with Stafford Farm School's mission, values, and Christian worldview.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and students while cultivating a positive learning environment.
